BIOGRAPHY

Brooklyn Britches grew up singing and playing music with her family and friends in a small rural town outside of Toledo, Ohio. Growing up in the church, she developed her skill for singing and an ear for harmonies. Living in a small town, she always dreamed of moving to the city and in 2011 she finally made her way to Chicago, where she quickly fell in love with the vibrant burlesque and performance scene. After working up enough courage, she decided to study burlesque at Studio L'Amour, where she met some of the most talented and inspirational dancers in Chicago and around the world. Brooklyn studied for three years before making her debut stage performance in 2014, performing a singing striptease to a swing version of Bei Mir Bist Du Shoen. This first performance was just the beginning of making her dream of a career in music a true possibility.
Though she has slowed down as a dancer, Brooklyn is now performing mostly as a singer in some of the most well known venues in Chicago and around the U.S. primarily with her band Brooklyn Britches and The Whispers, as well as producing and coproducing her own shows and events. Brooklyn Britches and The Whispers' performances delight their audiences with old standards and modern songs with a slow, swanky twist. Upright bass (Martin Stonikas) and classic acoustic guitar (Charles Williams) underscore Brooklyn Britches' smokey jazz vocals, completely engaging you in the present while simultaneously transporting you back to the golden age of jazz.
